They offer a fashion merchandising program that boasts placing many students in internships down in New York city. The campus is just over an hour by train from Manhattan.
The engineering program has more female engineer graduates than any other college on the east coast. They have a robotics lab and a wireless communication lab on campus.
The campus abuts Seaside Park and Long Island Sound. It is on the former estate of P.T. Barnum.
The school currently has 2,100 undergrads (approximately 50% of whom live on campus). The school is growing and the goal is to reach 2,700 students in the next several years.
UB is the first American university to offer a BS in Martial Arts. The degree focuses on four aspects of martial arts:
• Historical background and philosophical roots of the martial arts
• Languages and cultures of the societies in which the martial arts originated and developed
• In-depth study of at least one of the martial arts (Tai Chi, Tae Kwan Do, Jujitsu, Karate)
• Psychosocial dimensions of the martial arts and their impact upon personality and society
They offer many health sciences majors as well as many alternative health majors. They have pre-naturopathic medicine, pre-chiropractic. They also just introduced a BS in Health Sciences and they will be introducing a Masters in Physician Assistantship.
UB has an open and accepting campus and a definite international flair to their campus. Any student can go there and feel welcomed.
International Political Economy and Diplomacy is a popular major. A former UB professor works in the UN, and still teaches a class to current students that meets at the UN.
